What causes low back pain?
Low back pain is most commonly a combination problem. It is incredibly rare to just have one structure causing all of a patients symptoms. So although it may be mainly a disk problem without addressing the muscles and joints a patient won’t get the benefit they want or deserve.
This has its downsides that several things need to be treated, even during one session. However, this is also an opportunity meaning that many avenues to success are available to the therapist-patient team.

We think of all factors within a particular back pain episode as points on a triangle or pyramid. The current point of a persons pain can be imagined as sitting somewhere inside that. So it could be muscle, joints, disc, nerve and core stability at each point. Most of the pain could initially be caused by the muscle and so massage, acupuncture and stretches are needed to loosen that off. The muscle could resolve quickly and so the Pure Physio approach allows us to be flexible and prioritise the now worst problem, like a disc.
