Suffering from Lower Back Pain?
Our team of physiotherapists provide effective treatment and relief for patients located in the Albany, Rosedale and Greenhithe area.
What causes lower back pain?
Anyone who has suffered from back pain can attest to how debilitating it can be. Low back pain is rarely caused by one single problem; instead, it’s usually the result of a cluster of out-of-balance anatomical structures, including joints, muscles, discs and nerves.
Due to its important role and central body position, back pain truly needs a holistic approach, looking at the collection or interaction of structures that are causing the issue.
Why is it So Common?
The lower back is not supported by other bones, making it particularly vulnerable. It needs to be flexible and strong in its own right, unable to rely on other bones to hold it in place. Add to this it’s proximity to the spine; because the spine needs to send signals quickly to the brain, pain receptors in this area are very efficient. So, while the spine itself is rarely involved in lower back injury, it does make this area more sensitive to pain.
