Foot pain: common reasons for it and how to fix it
Feet are complicated things but we have some great solutions for foot pain at Pure Physio
It is easy to take your feet for granted before you have foot pain. They take all of your weight for a lot of the day. They need to be flexible to mold to rough ground and yet rigid enough to push along when we run. On top of that we need to use them to push pedals when driving or kick a ball when playing sport.
These multiple functions make the foot full of potential pain causing structures which are all under considerable load.
The process to solve foot pain
As with all conditions, the first step is a careful assessment to determine the structure at fault. This could be a ligament or muscle, but in the foot, there is a structure called the plantar fascia. This tight membrane creates the foot’s arch when it becomes inflamed it is called plantar fasciitis. There is also a fat pad which sits under the heel and acts like a gel sole cushioning the shock from footfall.
All of these problems can be solved by physiotherapy using strategies from massage, manual therapy and exercises.
